When you think of the adjective 'retro', it conjures up a certain mood. Shortened from its full form 'retrospective', it signifies our discovery of an artefact from an earlier period. We look back and find Twiggy in Carnaby Street of the sixties. She would have loved to sit in one of our chairs! We recall 'The Avengers', Steed in bowler hat and Purdy in retro attire.
Going back further still the Art Deco style of the 1920's, which had a brief but glorious flurry became Art Nouveau. This style influenced art up to the time of the Marilyn Monroe posters and beyond. Difficult to describe but instantly recognisable 'retro' is found in all our homes. Sometimes just the font of a book title, sometimes an ornament of particular angularity. When Norwegian wood was a hit tune we were all buying what has become retro furniture now. The invasion of Scandinavian Designers and Architects in the 1960's has brought lasting joy and good taste to our lives and we instantly recognise the furniture which has endured.
Febland's have sought to select the best of these retro pieces to place in our range. Not always slavish copies but blended with new materials and sometimes scaled down for practicality producing a viable retail price for the seeker of cool and timeless furniture and lighting. Retro is our goal and we have become synonymous with fine retro pieces as a first port of call. Our large warehouses are brim full of retro style commodities and we are continuously expanding to encompass more items as we discover them and make retro specification available to a wider and younger public.
